Toxic Free Living with Grove Collaborative
I have to admit, I never cared much about cleaning products and their effect on our home until we had Tanner. That concerned heightened when he started to become mobile and put EVERYTHING in his mouth. I knew I had to change what we were doing and make our products safe for him. Around the same time this happened, a friend of mine recommended to me Grove Collaborative. They have everything from tampons to toilet cleaners, and everything is delivered to your front door!
I decided to try it and immediately fell in love. It’s simple and convenient to use, I downloaded their app and shopped by category for what we needed, I started with baby essentials, kitchen cleaning essentials, laundry essentials, and quick products I carry with me in my diaper bag and purse. Each month you can keep the same products in your cart, or move to next month if you don’t need to re-up just yet. As my fellow moms know, driving to and from Target and the grocery store with a toddler can be a whole day event. I found myself overwhelmed shopping for just the basics each month. Having our cleaning products delivered to our house freed up SO much of my time. Instead of spending two hours at Target. I could take Tanner to the park or play at home.
Baby Essentials
Tanner touches EVERYTHING. Seriously I think kids with clean hands is an oxymoron. I was constantly wiping his hands and keeping him away from stuff. I also like to wipe down shopping carts and high chairs when we are shopping and going out to eat. I do it so much the products had to be safe for him, because you guessed it, he will just put his hands right back in his mouth! The same was applicable for his toys. We have a dog and sometimes he would grab his toys and chew on them, or they will be on the floor, and in our cars. All places with a ton of germs. Babyganics is sulfate free, safe for sensitive skin, paraben free, not tested on animals, hypoallergenic, and children/pet friendly.
Babies have very sensitive skin and I noticed immediately that our babies was more sensitive than most. I liked the babyganics shampoo and body wash for him because it didn't dry his skin out, cause a rash, or have any harsh chemicals. The grab green diaper pail spray is a MUST. A dirty diaper can make the entire room smell terrible. This neutralizes the odor immediately and keeps our Diaper Genie bearable to be around. Grab green is paraben free, vegan, sulfate free, natural fragrance, and safe for children and animals.
Kitchen Cleaning Essentials
It seems that once you become a mom you spend most of our time in the kitchen or laundry room. The amount of baby laundry and baby dishes is incredible impressive. Everyday you will wash something and its just never ending. We do have a housekeeper that helps us out and comes once every other week. I don’t know what I would do without her she is a saving grace. It was important I introduced her to these products to use while she is in our home and I use them when we are doing the cleaning ourselves. My two favorite go to brands have been Mrs. Meyers and Method. They both smell amazing and our non-toxic and safe for your family.
The best thing about Mrs. Meyers is their products come in so many different scents and they even release seasonal fragrances. My personal favorite is their lavender, it is supposed to be calming and we could use some of that around here!
Laundry Essentials
Laundry, laundry, laundry. It will never end. The second you add a baby it seems to triple!!! When Tanner was first born we were using a detergent that was specifically for infants. Now that he's bigger, I figured we could switch to something non-toxic and it would have the same effect. I was correct and it is very gentle on his clothes as well. We also use the scent booster and clean day dryer sheets. Combined it leaves you with the freshest smelling clothes.
Bathroom Essentials
This is one of the categories that are endless and I am still working on. So far I have started with the basics. Seedling by Grove bamboo toilet paper, StallMates flushable wipes, and sustain organic tampons. The toilet paper is an item I keep in every order, because it is a common household item we go through quickly.
On-the-Go Essentials
I travel with a small arsenal of goods because- mom life. You just never know what can happen, and lets be honest; something usually DOES happen. My two favorites that I get from my grove order is Mrs.Meyers Hand Sanitizer and Grove Hand Lotion. I use my sanitizer for EVERYTHING going in the store, after work, at the doctors office, before I feed Tanner, and to spray random dirty items with. My hands always need moisture from washing and our dry climate in Las Vegas. The products are small enough to put in my purse or diaper bag for quick access.
Changing our home and habits is never easy, and it certainly does take time. I have started making the journey to protect my family from things that are in my control and it feels amazing. Each month I look forward to my grove haul and I’m excited to add new things and continue to make our home the best that I possibly can.
