Getting work done on your face is controversial. I get it. No one wants to admit they have had anything done. I’ve been there! Four years ago, I started to get lip fillers and I didn’t tell ANYONE. I thought people would see me as phony and fake. Then I realized how common it was and that a ton of people do it!! I think now it is no secret I have had my pout plumped a bit and I love the way it looks. I know filler is not for everyone, but this is one of the most common questions I get asked about, so I’m here to give you the 411.

I did a lot of research and asked around a lot before I decided to get them done. Currently, I go to Flawless Vegas in Las Vegas, NV and Melanie is my injector!! The facility is state of the art and she does such a great job. When you go in for your consultation you tell her what look you are trying to achieve. She always gives me my desired result. Before I went to Flawless, I went to Advanced Aesthetics and I really loved them as well. However, if I’m going to recommend anyone it would be Melanie!!! I usually go twice a year and that keeps my desired look and I only get a single syringe. It is up to you how full you would like your lips to look!

The Cost

Depending where you go the price is about $400- $600 dollars and the procedure lasts from six months to a year. Filler is NOT permanent and is a procedure you do have to maintain if you would like to keep your desired look.

The Product

I personally get Juvederm Ultra. My goal was to achieve plumper lips and this is a very common filler for lip injections. However, there are other options to choose from. I recommend booking a consultation and deciding which on is the best fit for you!

The Procedure

I am super duper afraid of needles and there is definitely mild discomfort during the procedure. The week before you want to make sure you avoid any blood thinners. This includes ibuprofen, aspirin, fish oil supplements, and Vitamin E. This helps to minimize your bruising and swelling. You are offered numbing cream before (which I recommend) and the actual needle just feels like a tiny pinch. In it’s entirety the procedure takes about 20 minutes. The results are immediate!

After Care

I usually keep ice on hand for the entire day the day of the procedure. It helps with the swelling, Personally I do not bruise when I get my lips filled but it is very common and it goes away. Right after you might feel like they are HUGE! After a week they settle and if you aren’t satisfied with your result you can always add more or have them dissolved! After Dermal Filler

Avoid straining, heavy lifting, and vigorous exercise for 2-3 hours after your treatment.
It generally takes the filler approximately 24 hours to stabilize so it’s best to take things easy the day of. We don’t want to increase circulation to the treated area(s).
Avoid manipulation of the treated area(s) for 24 hours afterward.
Avoid direct sunlight for 24 hours. It’s always best to wear sunscreen and a protective hat whenever possible but especially so after any cosmetic treatment, including injectables.
No laser treatments in the treated area(s) for at least one week.
You’ll find that applying ice to the treated area(s) intermittently for the next few hours is helpful at decreasing any discomfort and swelling.
Skincare can be used and makeup can be applied the very next day though it’s best to avoid Retin-A, glycolic acid, and vitamin c for at least 24 hours around the treated area(s).
Lumps and bumps caused by fluid accumulation in the area are possible after treatment and are generally a normal part of the healing process.
After 3 days you may start to massage any lumps; this is best done nightly. If they do not resolve after 1-2 weeks with massage, contact the office for a follow-up appointment.
Arnica oral tablets or topical gel may be applied as directed if you experience bruising. We offer both for sale t the Flawless Office though they can also be found at most drugstores.

This was five hours after I had been injected. My lips are swollen here and settled into my desired lip in about 3 days.
